Travatan (Travoprost) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma or ocular hypertension. You can help prevent blindness by lowering high pressure inside the eye. Travoprost belongs to the class of medications called prostaglandin analogues. This medication works by regulating the flow of fluid within the eye to maintain a normal pressure.
In a study (Adherence with topical glaucoma medication monitored electronically: the Travatan Dosing Aid study -2009) CO Okeke, HA Quigley, HD Jampel, G Ying, RJ Plyler found that controlled clinical trials of Travatan have demonstrated that reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) retards the occurrence and progression of glaucoma.
