Olmetec Information
Olmetec (Olmesartan) is a medication prescribed in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). By lowering high blood pressure, you may help prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. Olmetec belongs to the Angiotension II Receptor Blocker class of medications; it works to block the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II to reduce blood pressure. Rise with caution after sitting or lying down to avoid falling or passing out and avoid activities that require you to be alert when starting this medication. Monitor blood pressure and maintain adequate fluid intake while taking Olmetec. Notify your doctor if you experience adverse side effects, such as allergic reactions, kidney problems (e.g. inability to urinate), severe dizziness, diarrhea or signs of high potassium levels (e.g. confusion, weakness, tingling, numbness, shortness of breath). Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Please always consult your pharmacist for possible side effects and precautions before you take this medication.
