Dosage

NeoVisc is available in the strength of 30 mg/2 ml and NeoVisc One is available in the strength of 60 mg/4 ml prefilled syringes.

Usage

NeoVisc (Sodium hyaluronate) is a prescription medication that relieves pain in patients with knee arthritis. NeoVisc is a safe and effective drug injected into the knee joints to alleviate mild to moderate osteoarthritis symptoms. NeoVisc injection consists of Sodium hyaluronate, naturally found in the synovial fluid and cartilage of healthy knee joints. The active ingredient in NeoVisc is Sodium hyaluronate. Sodium hyaluronate belongs to a class of medication called Intraarticular agent (rheumatologic). It works as a lubricant and shock absorber in the joint, helping the knee move smoothly and lessening pain. NeoVisc can be used as part of a physiotherapy treatment plan. It would be best to know that NeoVisc is usually given when other arthritis medications are ineffective.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of NeoVisc are injection site pain, trouble walking, dizziness, and bruises in injected areas.

Stop using NeoVisc and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Severe pain or swelling around the knee after the injection;
• Worsening of your condition

Warnings and Interactions

Before having a NeoVisc injection, inform your doctor if you are allergic to hyaluronate products or ingredients. A medical doctor should inject NeoVisc prefilled syringes into the joint space in a hospital setting. Do not inject yourself or use more than your prescribed dosage. You may need further treatment after the first administration of NeoVisc for maximum benefits. You can continue your routine daily activities for the first 24 hours after receiving the NeoVisc injection, but avoid overusing the treated joint. The syringe is single-use and should be discarded immediately after use. Do not miss your clinic appointment, and inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition.

Before you start using NeoVisc, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Active synovitis;
• Blood clots or circulation problems in your legs;
• Bone cancer;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Superficial skin infection around the injection site

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if NeoVisc will harm a fetus. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known if Sodium hyaluronate passes into breast milk and if it may harm a nursing infant. There may be a drug interaction between NeoVisc and other drugs, such as other intraarticular injections.
