Product Details

Iressa (Gefitinib) is a cancer medication that is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. Gefitinib is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor. This medication interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. It prevents the lung cancer cells from growing and spreading. The recommended dose of this medication is 250mg once a day.

Gefitinib Side Effects and Precautions

The common Gefitinib side effects may include dehydration, diarrhea, dry skin, itchiness, loss of appetite, mild skin rash, mouth sores, nausea, trouble sleeping, vomiting and weakness. The serious side effects may include:
• Red itchy eyes;
• Severe or long-lasting diarrhea, vomiting, nausea or loss of appetite;
• Signs of allergic reaction;
• Sore eyelid;
• Ulcer on the surface of the eye;
• Vision changes

You should not use Iressa if you are allergic to Gefitinib or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication should not be taken by anyone has EGFR expression negative turmour. There may be an interaction between Gefitinib and other medications such as itraconazole, ketoconazole, carbamazepine, imatinib, clarithromycin, esomeprazole, quinidine, rifampin, tacrolimus and warfarin, etc.
