Actoplus Met Information

Actoplus Met (Generic name: Pioglitazone HCI and Metformin HCI) is a combination of two oral diabetic medications that help control blood sugar levels. Acoplus Met is for patients with type 2 diabetes who do not use daily insulin injections. Actos decreases insulin resistance — a condition in which the cells in your body have become resistant to a hormone (called insulin) that lets them turn blood sugar (glucose) into energy. Metformin lowers the amount of sugar made by your liver. Actoplus Met is used along with diet and exercise. Actoplus Met may be used alone or with other anti-diabetic medicines. Take Actoplus Met exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Actoplus Met Side Effects

The most common Actoplus Met side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, headache, joint or muscle pain, nausea, sinus infection, stomach pain or vomiting. If you are experiencing any serious side effects such as anemia (low red blood cell), fluid retention, fractures, heart failure, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), lactic acidosis, liver problems, ovulation, unusual tiredness, weight gain, or any signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
