Product Details

Nevanac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in an ophthalmic solution that reduces pain and inflammation in the eye. It can also be used to reduce pain and swelling after cataract surgery.

The common side effects of Nevanac include: dry or sticky feeling in the eye, feeling like something is in your eye, eye redness, itching or watering eyes, increased sensitivity to light, headache, nausea, vomiting, and stuffy nose. The more serious side effects may include:

• Crusting or draining from your eyes
o Difficulty breathing
o Hives
o Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Severe eye pain
• Signs of allergic reaction:
• Swollen eyelids
• Vision problems

You should not take Nevanac if you are allergic to Nepafenac. Before you start taking Nevanac, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

It is not known whether or not this medication could cause harm to an unborn or nursing baby. If you are pregnant or nursing, talk to your doctor about the risks versus benefits of being on Nevanac.

Precautions

Be sure to take Nevanac exactly as your doctor describes for you. Follow all instructions that come with your medication.

Wash your hands before administering the eyedrops. Shake the eye drops well before use. Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid. Hold dropper above the eye and squeeze out a drop. Close eye and gently press your finger on the inside corner for one minute to avoid it draining into the tear duct. Do not use more drops than prescribed by your doctor. If you use more than one drop, wait for 5 minutes between drops.

Do not use Nevanac for longer than 14 days after surgery, unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.

Do not use the eye drops if the tip of the eye dropper has touched your eye. A contaminated dropper can cause eye infections and serious vision problems. Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses.

Keep the drops at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Do not allow to freeze and keep lid tightly closed when not in use.

There can be interactions between Nevanac and other medications. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Nevanac.

To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• Allergic to other eye drops
• Arthritis
• Bleeding or blood clot disorder
• Diabetes
• Dry eye syndrome
