Keppra XR (Levetiracetam) Extended-Release tablets is used to different types of epilepsy such as partial onset seizures, tonic-clonic, and myoclonic seizures in adults and children over the age of 4 years old. This extended-Release dosage form of Keppra should only be used to treat tonic-clonic seizures in adults and children 12 years or older. Levetiracetam is an anti-epileptic drug, and it works by slowing down the electrical signals that cause seizures, decreasing the number of seizures you have. This medication does not cure seizures; it is used to keep your seizures under control.
