Dosage

Orudis is available in the strength of 2.5%/100 gm, 5%/50 gm, and 10%/30 gm topical gel.

Usage

Orudis (Ketoprofen) is a prescription topical gel used to reduce pain, swelling, and joint stiffness from arthritis, dental pain, and muscle aches. Ketoprofen is also used to treat dysmenorrhoea (menstrual pain), sprains, strains, and backaches. The active ingredient in Orudis is Ketoprofen. Ketoprofen belongs to a class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of the substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. This helps to decrease swelling, pain, or fever associated with these conditions. Orudis may be used for other conditions not mentioned in this guide.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Orudis are nausea, vomiting, dizziness, stomach pain, blurred vision, diarrhea, and bloating.

Stop using Orudis and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Fever;
• Itchy skin;
• Passage of bloody stool;
• Shortness of breath;
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat

Warnings and Interactions

Before using ketoprofen, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, aspirin, other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib), or any other allergies. Follow your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor if there is anything you do not understand about your medicine. Ketoprofen gel is a topical gel that should be rubbed on the affected body parts. Do not take it by mouth. Apply a thin layer of the gel two to three times daily unless prescribed otherwise by your doctor. Gently massage the gel into the affected area. Wash your hands after applying the gel unless you use it to treat your hands. Do not cover the area with a dressing or plaster. Orudis may hide signs of an infection, like fever and pain, which may increase the risk of complications. If you use this medicine while you have an infection and your symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Ketoprofen gel may increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Wear sunscreen during treatment and for two weeks afterward. Limit alcoholic beverages while using Orudis gel. It may take up to 2 weeks of using Orudis gel regularly before getting the full benefit. It would be best to speak with your doctor if there is no significant improvement in your condition.

Before you start using Orudis, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Asthma or flu-like symptoms;
• Bleeding or clotting disorders;
• History of nasal poly or recurrent nose bleeds;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Severe skin infection or disease

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Ketoprofen may harm a fetus and cause problems during delivery if taken around the last trimester. Your doctor will only prescribe the lowest dose of this drug during the first and second trimesters if the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Ketoprofen passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Do not apply the gel on the breast or where the baby can contact it. There may be a drug interaction between Orudis and other drugs such as phenytoin, probenecid, benazepril, candesartan, diuretics, lithium, and methotrexate.
