Xatral (Alfuzosin) is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). This medication helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate often or urgently. Xatral belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha blockers. It works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the bladder to allow urine to flow more easily.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Xatral may include dizziness, headache, and fatigue.

Contact your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects:
• Feeling light-headed, like you might faint;
• New or worsening chest pain;
• Loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, stomach pain, jaundice;
• Penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer

Do not take Xatral if you are allergic to Alfuzosin or if you have liver disease. Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctors about your medical history and if you ever had:
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Long QT syndrome;
• Low blood pressure;
• Prostate cancer

Do not drive or do any hazardous activity until you know how this medication will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired. Avoid alcohol while you are taking this medication because it can cause side effects. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Alfuzosin and other medications such as heart or blood pressure medications, nitrate medications, other ED medications such as Sildenafil. Xatral is not for use in women and anyone younger than 18 years old.
