Soframycin (Framycetin Sulfate/Gramicidin/Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat nose infections and congestion caused by certain bacteria. The drug is also used to relieve congestion accompanying the common cold and for the post-operative care of patients who have undergone intranasal or sinus surgery. Without treatment, nasal congestion may lead to complications like nasal polyps, sinusitis, or middle ear infections. The active ingredients in Soframycin nasal spray are Framycetin sulfate, Gramicidin, and Phenylephrine hydrochloride. Framycetin sulfate and Gramicidin belong to a class of drugs called antibiotics. They work by killing bacteria. Phenylephrine hydrochloride belongs to a class of medications called nasal decongestants. It works by reducing swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passages.
