Keflex (Cephalexin) is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections and urinary tract infections. This medication is known as a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Cephalexin will not work for viral infections such as common cold and flu.

We currently have the brand name Keflex capsules from UK and the generic Cephalexin tablets come from Canada and are manufactured by a different manufacturer. Keflex is available in the strength of 250mg and 500mg.

The common side effects may include diarrhea, headache, nausea, sore mouth, vomiting or upset stomach. The serious side effects may include:
• Abdominal or stomach pain or cramping;
• Blood or mucus in your stool;
• Dizziness;
• Itching, skin rash, swelling;
• Joint pain;
• Persistent diarrhea;
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

You should not use Keflex if you are allergic to Cephalexin or to other Cephalosporin antibiotics. Before you start taking this medication, inform your doctor about your medical condition and about all the medications you are currently taking. Keflex is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. You should inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Cephalexin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Keflex should be taken for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor.
