Solian Information

Solian (Amisulpiride) is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental condition that affects the way you think, feel, or act. This condition can cause symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, unusual suspiciousness, emotional and social withdrawal. Antipsychotics like Amisulpiride work by affecting a neurotransmitter called dopamine in the brain. The drug blocks the receptors that dopamine act on in the brain to control psychotic illness.

Solian Side Effects

The most common side effects of Solian may include drowsiness; weight gain; increased appetite; constipation; dry mouth; Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:

Solian Precautions

Do not use Solian if you are allergic to Amisulpiride or other ingredients in this medication. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Solian and other medications, like amiodarone; cisapride; levodopa; methadone; erythromycin; verapamil; amphotericin;. Do not use Solian if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. This medication will harm your unborn baby. Your newborn baby will need close monitoring if you take this drug during pregnancy. Do not use Solian while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. Amisulpiride passes into your breastmilk and it may harm nursing infants. This drug is not safe for use in children below 18 years.

Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take this drug by mouth with a glass of water. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet. When taking the oral solution, use the dosage syringe supplied to measure the correct dose. You can swallow the solution or mix it with water. It is best to take this drug before meals. Solian can cause dizziness. Be careful when driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Avoid taking alcohol when using this drug. Alcohol can increase the side effects. Keep your tablets in the blister pack until it is time to use them. Store Solian solution in its original bottle.
