Product Details
Taclonex (Calcipotriene/Betamethasone) ointment is a prescription medication that is used to treat plaque psoriasis. The scalp gel is used to treat psoriasis of the scalp. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid drug that helps decrease the swelling, redness and itching of the skin. Calcipotriene is a form of Vitamin D. This medication works by decreasing the rate of skin cell reproduction. Taclonex is not recommended for use in children due to an increased risk of side effects.

Taclonex Side Effects

Stop using the medication and get medical care if you have an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The common side effects may include burning, irritation of the skin, itching and redness. The serious side effects may include:
• Headache;
• Increased thirst or urination;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Painful urination;
• Pink or bloody urine;
• Swelling ankles or feet;
• Unexplained constipation;
• Unusual or extreme tiredness;
• Vision problems;
• Weight loss

Precautions
You should not use Taclonex ointment or scalp gel if you are allergic to Calcipotriene or Betamethasone or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Limit your time in the sun. Inform your doctor right away if you get sunburned or have blisters or redness on your skin. Taclonex should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. There may be a drug interaction between Taclonex and other medications such as hydrocortisone and prednisone, other steroid medications or other medications to treat psoriasis.
