Symbicort Turbuhaler Mechanism of Action
This inhalation has two actions. First, it acts on multiple cell types and mediators that are responsible for inflammation. It works directly in the lungs by reducing the swelling of the airways to make breathing easier. Second, it stimulates intracellular adenyl cyclase, which converts adenosine triphosphate to cyclic adenosine monophosphate. An increase in cyclic AMP levels may relax bronchial smooth muscle and inhibit the release of immediate hypersensitivity mediators.

- Exhale through the mouth and away from your inhaler.
- Put the mouthpiece inside your mouth, between your teeth, and seal your lips on it. Be careful not to block the vent.
- Inhale deeply and hold your breath.
- Remove the Turbuhaler from your mouth.
- Once again, exhale away from the inhaler.
- If you are prescribed to administer two puffs, repeat steps 3-8.
- Replace the cover of the inhaler.
