Singulair chew tab (Montelukast) is a prescription medication used to ease allergy signs and prevent breathing problems that happen with exercise. The drug can also be used to treat or prevent asthma. Singulair chew tab may decrease the number of times you need to use your quick-relief inhaler. The active ingredient in Singulair chew tab is Montelukast. Montelukast belongs to a class of drugs called leukotriene receptor antagonists. It works by blocking substances called leukotrienes. Leukotrienes cause the narrowing and swelling of the airways in the lungs.

We currently offer the brand Singulair chew tab from Canada manufactured by Merck in the strength of 4mg and 5mg chewable tablets. The generic Montelukast is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while taking Singulair chew tab. The most common side effects of Singulair chew tab may include the following:
• Cough;
• Diarrhea;
• Headache
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Hallucinations;
• Restlessness;
• Seizures;
• Sinus pain;
• Sleepwalking
These are not all of the side effects of Singulair chew tab. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not take Singulair chew tab if you are allergic to Montelukast or any ingredient in Singulair chew tab. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have asthma or treating Chronic Obstructive Airway disease (COPD);
• Have lung diseases such as interstitial fibrosis or pulmonary fibrosis;
• Have phenylketonuria (PKU)
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Singulair chew tab and other medicines, like phenobarbital, aspirin, phenytoin, rifampicin, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known whether Singulair chew tab will harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Montelukast passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Singulair is a chewable tablet. Chew the tablet well before swallowing. You can take Singulair with or without food. Keep taking this drug even if you do not have symptoms. If you are using this drug to prevent breathing problems due to exercise or sports, take the medicine at least 2 hours before working out. Store at room temperature, away from light. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
