Dosage

The brand Parsitan is available in the strength of 50 mg tablets.

Usage

Parsitan (Ethopropazine Hydrochloride) is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease or movement disorders due to the side effects antipsychotics such as chlorpromazine and haloperidol. Ethopropazine belongs to a class of medications called phenothiazines. It works by blocking a certain natural chemical (acetylcholine) which helps to decrease symptoms such as muscle stiffness, spasms, shaking, and excessive salivating. Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor. Your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose to find the best dose for you depending upon your medical condition and response to treatment. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day. Tell your doctor if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse.

Side Effects and Precautions

Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The common side effects of Parsitan are drowsiness, dizziness, headache; blurred vision, increased sensitivity of eyes to the light; constipation, or dry mouth. To relieve dry mouth, suck (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute.

Stop using Parsitan and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
