Sinemet online Canadian Pharmacy

Sinemet Information

Sinemet Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the generic Carbidopa/Levodopa from India also called Syndopa Plus manufactured by Sun Pharma and Canada by a different manufacturer. The brand equivalent is not available.

Dosage

Sinemet is available in the strength of 10 mg/100 mg, 25 mg/100 mg, and 25 mg/250 mg tablets.

Usage

Sinemet (Carbidopa/Levodopa) is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, such as muscle stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control. The active ingredients in Sinemet are Carbidopa and Levodopa. Levodopa is a chemical closely related to dopamine, allowing the body to make its dopamine. Carbidopa makes sure that enough levodopa gets to the brain where it is needed. These two drugs work together to reduce symptoms of Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism by increasing levels of dopamine in the brain.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Sinemet are dizziness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dry mouth, constipation, change in the sense of taste, forgetfulness, nightmares, headache, and weakness.

Stop using Sinemet and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Confusion, hallucinations, unusual changes in mood or behavior;
• Severe or ongoing vomiting or diarrhea;
• Severe nervous system reaction - very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out;
• Thought of harming or killing yourself;
• Uncontrolled muscle movements in your face (chewing, lip-smacking, frowning, tongue movement, blinking, or eye movement);
• Worsening of tremors (uncontrolled shaking)

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Sinemet, tell your doctor about all other medications you take. They can advise if any of them might increase your risk of dyskinesia (involuntary movement of the body part) with Sinemet. Sinemet helps control some of your symptoms of Parkinson's disease but does not cure it. It would be best if you continued taking Sinemet for as long as your doctor prescribes. You should tell your doctor if you have or have ever had glaucoma, melanoma (skin cancer), or skin growth that has not been diagnosed. This medication may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position. This is more common when you first start taking levodopa and carbidopa. To avoid this problem, get out of bed slowly, resting your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing up. Your doctor may tell you not to take levodopa and carbidopa. It would be best to know that the Sinemet tablet (levodopa/carbidopa) may make you drowsy or may cause you to fall asleep during your regular daily activities suddenly. You might not feel drowsy or have any other warning signs before you suddenly fall asleep. Do not drive a car, operate machinery, or participate in potentially dangerous activities at the beginning of your treatment until you know how the medication affects you. You should limit your alcoholic beverages while on Sinemet medication. Alcohol can make the side effects of levodopa and carbidopa worse.

Before you start using Sinemet, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• An endocrine (hormonal) disorder;
• Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or other breathing disorder;
• A stomach or intestinal ulcer;
• Depression, mental illness, or psychosis;
• Heart disease, high blood pressure, or heart attack;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Open-angle glaucoma

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. You should inform your doctor if you plan to get pregnant or become pregnant while taking the Sinemet tablet for your Parkinson other diseases. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Levodopa passes into breast milk in small amounts, affecting how much milk you make. However, it is unknown if carbidopa passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Sinemet and other drugs such as phenelzine, tranylcypromine, rifampicin, isocarboxazid, selegiline, and procarbazine.
