Tekturna Information
Tekturna (Generic name: Aliskiren; also called Rasilez in Canada) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. Aliskiren belongs to a new type of drugs called Renin inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the action of kidney enzyme Renin which can act to raise the blood pressure. Tekturna can be used along or in combination with other medications to lower high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attacks, kidney problems, or stoke. Take Tekturna exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Tekturna Side Effects
The most common Tekturna side effects are back pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, headache, nausea, stomach upset, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as fainting, seizures, vision changes, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Tekturna Precautions
Do NOT take Tekturna oral if you are allergic to Aliskiren or to any of the ingredients in Tekturna medication. Before taking Tekturna, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions including diabetes, heart disease, gout, liver or kidney problem. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Tekturna drug, especially of: ACE inhibitors, antifungal drugs, atorvastatin, cyclosporine, diuretics, lithium, potassium supplements, and other medications for high blood pressure and heart disease. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
