What is Desyrel?

Desyrel is a brand-name prescription medication. Its generic name is Trazodone hydrochloride. It is an antidepressant that belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). This medication’s mechanism of action is not fully known and understood. Still, it is thought to be related to its enhancement of serotonergic activity in the Central Nervous system (CNS), by preventing serotonin uptake by nerves in the brain.

It increases serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is a natural chemical in the brain that helps maintain mental balance and regulate mood and sleep.

Trazodone Hydrochloride is the main and one of the Desyrel ingredients.
