Reyataz (Atazanavir) is a prescription medication used to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in the body. The virus can be passed to the baby through breast milk even if the baby is born without HIV. Take Reyataz precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Take the medicine with food. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush, chew, or open it. Drink extra fluids to keep your kidneys working properly when using this medicine. Reyataz is given in combination with other antiviral medications. Do not use it alone. Do not change your dose or stop using your medicine without contacting your doctor. Reyataz is not a cure for HIV. Using this drug may not prevent your disease from spreading. Do not have unprotected sex or share toothbrushes or razors. You may experience dizziness when using this drug. Avoid driving or using machinery until you know how the drug affects you. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
