Spiriva Respimat Information
Spiriva Respimat (Tiotropium Bromide) is used for the long-term, once-daily, maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Spiriva Respimat works by relaxing the tiny muscles in your airways, helping to get them open and keep them open for a full 24 hours. Keep in mind; it may take up to 4 to 8 weeks of treatment with Spiriva Respimat for your breathing to improve. Spiriva Respimat is not a rescue medication. If you are having a bronchospasm attack, use the appropriate medication. To make sure Spiriva Respimat is safe for you, tell your doctor if you are allergic to tiotropium or any similar medications. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding to discuss any possible risks. Take this medication as directed. It may take several weeks to see the full effects. Do not use this medication for shorter or longer than recommended. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you. If you experience any serious side effects, a severe worsening of breathing problems, or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
