Product Details

Advicor (Niacin/Lovastatin) is a prescription medication that is used for lowering cholesterol levels in the blood in combination with diet and exercise. This medication is a combination of extended release Niacin and Lovastatin. Advicor works by reducing the amount of the cholesterol made by the liver. This medication is usually prescribed after the use of one drug (niacin or lovastatin) has not been successful in lowering cholesterol. >

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects from Advicor may include chills, dizziness, flushing, headache, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Chest pain;
• Confusion;
• Extreme dizziness;
• Memory problems;
• Swelling or weight gain;
• Unexplained muscle pain

You should not take Advicor if you are allergic to Niacin or Lovastatin. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy. You should drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert until you are sure you can perform these activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication may improve your blood glucose levels if you have diabetes. Advicor should not be used during pregnancy because it may harm an unborn baby. This medication passes into breast milk. You should not breast-feed while using this medication.
