Avapro Details (Brand and Generic)

You can order Avapro and other hypertension medications right here at CanadaPharmacyOnline.com. We currently have the brand Avapro from Canada by Sanofi Aventis and from Turkey also called Karvea manufactured by Sanofi Winthrop. The generic Irbesartan is available from Canada by Sandoz, India also called Irovel by Sun Pharma, and from the United Kingdom by a different manufacturer.

Dosage

The brand Avapro and the generic Irbesartan tablets are both available in the strength of 75 mg, 150 mg, and 300 mg oral tablets.

Usage

Avapro (Irbesartan) is RX medication used to treat high blood pressure and kidney problems caused by diabetes. Irbesartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. This medication works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily, thus, reducing blood pressure. Irbesartan may be used alone or in combinations with thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide. Lowering high blood pressure will help prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Avapro does not cure high blood pressure, but it does help to control it, when it is taken regularly as prescribed.

Side Effects

Signs of Avapro (irbesartan) allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The common side effects may include diarrhea, dizziness, heartburn, light-headedness, tiredness and upset stomach. Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Fainting;
• Muscle weakness, slow/irregular heartbeat (symptoms of high blood potassium level);
• Unusual change in the amount of urine

Warnings and Interactions

Do not take Avapro if you are allergic to Irbesartan. Do not use Avapro together with any medication that contains Aliskiren (Amturnide, Tekturna, Tekamlo, Valturna). Before you start taking this medication, inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking including prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements. There may be a drug interaction between Irbesartan and other medications such as aliskiren, lithium, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, birth control pills containing drospirenone. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, severe loss of body water and minerals. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. Avapro may increase your potassium levels, talk to your doctor before using potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium. You should not use Avapro if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop using the medication right away. It is unknown whether Irbesartan passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medication.
