Dostinex (Generic name: Cabergoline) is a prescription medication used to treat certain hormones problems (hyperprolactinemia) that causes unusual breast milk production. Cabergoline belongs to a class of drugs known as dopamine receptor agonists. It works by stimulating a part of the brain that can decrease the production of the hormone that causes milk production (prolactin). Decreasing high prolactin levels can improve the unusual breast milk production. Dostinex may also be used to treat Parkinson’s disease, prolactin-producing tumors and to adjust various hormone levels in certain disease (ovarian disease). Take Dostinex exactly as it was prescribed.
The most common Dostinex side effects are constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, sleepiness, tiredness, vomiting, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as breast pain, chest pain, fainting, hallucinations, menstrual cramps, mental/mood changes, vision changes, and symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
