Reminyl (generic name: Galantamine, also known as Galamer) is a cholinesterase inhibitor used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. Reminyl works to slow mental deterioration by preventing the breakdown of achetylcoline and butyrylcholine. By helping the brain to maintain higher acH levels, Reminyl helps control symptoms such as loss of memory, understanding and daily living skills.
Reminyl side effects include nausea, diarrhea, increased frequency of bowel movements, vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle aches, and weight loss. See your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of these rare side effects: chest pain, indigestion, lower back pain, pale skin, dizziness or fainting.
