Nesina (Alogliptin) is prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Alogliptin is an oral antidiabetes drug used to control high blood sugar (glucose) in adults. Nesina should be used along with the diet and exercise. It is not for treating type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. Take Nesina exactly prescribed.

We currently have the brand Nesina also called Vipidia comes from United Kingdom and United State manufactured by Takeda. Nesina is supplied as tablet form and available in three different strengths: 6.25 mg, 12.5 mg and 25 mg. Generic Alogliptin is not available now.
The most common side effects of Nesina include:
• Headache;
• Runny or stuffy nose;
• Sore throat;
• Upper respiratory tract infection.
If you suffer any serious side effects as below, please notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately:
• Heart failure symptoms including swelling ankles/feet, trouble breathing;
• High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) symptoms including thirst, increased urination, confusion;
• Low blood sugar symptoms including hunger and blurred vision;
• Joint pain;
• Unusual weight gain;
Do not take Nesina if you are allergic to Alogliptin or any other ingredients in this medication. Tell your doctor about all the medical conditions you have had before, especially if you have:
• Gallstones;
• Heart disease;
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Pancreas disease;
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including herbal supplements, especially: beta-blocker medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
