Starlix Information
Starlix (Nateglinide) belongs to the
meglitinide class of blood glucose-lowering drugs.
Starlix is an oral drug used to lower blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes. Kidney damage,
blindness, loss of limbs, nerve problems and sexual function problems can all be prevented by
controlling high blood sugar. Starlix can also reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke. This
medicine helps your body respond better to insulin produced by your pancreas. This medication
is taken orally, 3 times a day and 1-30 minutes before every meal. This medication should not be taken if you are skipping a meal. Your doctor should be advised of any allergies, history of
kidney disease, gout, and liver disease before taking this drug, this product may contain
ingredients that can cause allergic reactions.
Possible side effects include weight gain, if this effect continues or gets worse you need to notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Other side effects such as chills, cold sweat, dizziness, drowsiness, shaking, fast heartbeat, weakness,headache, fainting, tingling of the hands or feet, or hunger may be experienced. Low blood sugar can be expected if you are consuming large amounts of alcohol, insufficient amounts of calories from foods as well as engaging in heavy exercise that your body is not familiar with. When taking Starlix, it is a good idea to carry glucose tablets which helps to treat low blood sugar. If you do not have access to glucose tablets, you can raise your blood sugar level by eating foods or having drinks which contain sugar.
