Arava Information

Arava is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, a condition in which the body’s defense system (immune system) fails to recognize part of your body like joints or skin as itself and releases proteins called autoantibodies that attack healthy cells around the joints. This medication works by weakening the immune system and decreasing inflammation. Do not take this medication if you are allergic. Talk to your medical professional if you have a history of immune system disorder (e.g., HIV infection), current/recent infection (e.g., tuberculosis), cancer, bone marrow/blood disorder, kidney disease, liver disease (e.g., hepatitis B or C), alcohol abuse, heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, or lung disease. Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor for any possible side effects and precautions. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your doctor promptly.
