Usage

Angeliq (Estradiol/Drospirenone) is a combination medication that is used to treat symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, and vaginal dryness, burning and irritation. This medication contains Estradiol, which is the synthetic version of the female hormone estrogen. Drospirenone is a form of progestin which is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone. Estradiol replaces the estrogen your body loses during menopause, which helps relieve hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Drospirenone protects the uterus from damage and helps prevent uterine cancer. Angeliq is used only if you have a uterus; this medication is not approved to be used for women who had a hysterectomy.

Side Effects and Precautions

Angeliq can also reduce breast milk production. This medication may cause a patchy darkening of the skin on the face. You should avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths and sunlamps.
