Zithromax Information:
Zithromax (Generic name: Azithromycin) is a prescription medication used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as ear infections (e.g., otitis media), respiratory infections (e.g. pneumonia), skin infections, and throat infections (e.g., tonsillitis, strep throat). Zithromax is also effective against several sexually transmitted diseases. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with ability to make proteins. Zithromax (Azithromycin) only treats bacterial infections. It will NOT work for viral infections (e.g., common code, flu). Take Zithromax capsules exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Zithromax Side Effects:
The most common Zithromax side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, stomach upset, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, fever, hearing loss, jaundice, joint pain, stomach cramps, or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Zithromax Precautions:
Do not take Zithromax if you are allergic to Azithromycin or any of the ingredients in Zithromax medication. Before taking Zithromax oral, tell your doctor if have had any medical conditions, especially of: heart rhythm disorder, kidney or liver disease, long QT syndrome, and myasthenia gravis. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Zithromax drug, especially of: calcium channel blockers, cholesterol-lowering medicines, cyclosporine, digoxin, ergot medicines, HIV drugs, live vaccines, warfarin, and other antibiotics.
