Usage

Dapsone (Dapsone) is a prescription medication used to treat many conditions. It can be used for leprosy, skin problems, to prevent malaria in combination with pyrimethamine, and to prevent pneumonia in immunodeficient people. Dapsone belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfones. It works by decreasing inflammation (swelling) and stopping the growth of bacteria.

Side Effects

The common Dapsone side effects may include blurred version, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
• An allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, swelling of the face/throat);

• Liver disease;

This drug may cause dizziness. Alcohol or marijuana can make you feel more dizzy. Do not drive or perform any activity that requires alertness until you can do it safely. Talk to your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be a drug interaction between Dapsone and other medications. Dapsone should NOT be used while breastfeeding. Hemolytic anemia might occur especially in newborn infants with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.
