Crestor (Generic name: Rosuvastatin Calcium) is a cholesterol medication used to reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL). Crestor contains the medicine Rosuvastatin Calcium, which belongs to a group of medicines known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or “statins”. Crestor Side Effects
The most common Crestor side effects are headache, nasal congestion, upset stomach, sore throat, muscle pain or tenderness, nausea and weakness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as fever or flu symptoms, trouble urination, unexplained muscle pain, unusual weakness and serious allergic reaction (e.g., rash, hives, difficult breathing, swelling of the lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.
Crestor Precautions
Do NOT take Crestor oral if you are allergic to Rosuvastatin or to any of the ingredients in Crestor medication. Before taking Crestor, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as underactive thyroid, muscle disorder, epilepsy or seizure disorder, an electrolyte imbalance, a severe infection or illness, a recent surgery, liver or kidney disease. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, of Asian descent, a frequent user of alcohol, or will be undergoing a procedure or surgery.
