Ezetrol Information

Ezetrol (Ezetimibe) is used to lower cholesterol levels in people with high cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol occurs when there is excess fatty substance in the blood. This condition is primarily caused by eating fatty food, being overweight, not exercising enough, and drinking alcohol. The condition can also run in families. You can reduce your risk of high cholesterol by eating healthily and exercising more. Cholesterol can build up in the walls of your arteries, forming plaque. This plaque build-up eventually leads to the narrowing of the arteries, slowing blood flow to vital organs like the heart and brain. Left untreated, a high cholesterol level can result in a heart attack or stroke. Cholesterol absorption inhibitors like Ezetimibe work by decreasing the body’s ability to absorb cholesterol from the digestive system. Your doctor may prescribe Ezetrol with other cholesterol-lowering medications or with exercise and a healthy diet.
