WHAT IS LUPRON DEPOT KIT? 

Lupron (Leuprolide) Depot Kit is a prescription medication that helps with the treatment of symptoms of prostate cancer in men and symptoms of endometriosis in women. It can also be used for the treatment of early-onset puberty in both male and female children 2 years old and older. It belongs to a class of drugs called antineoplastics gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists, which work by blocking GnRH on the pituitary gland.

Before taking Lupron Depot Kit, contact a healthcare professional if you are allergic to the ingredients of this medication or have any other allergies. If you have a family history or a medical condition that includes one or more of the following, tell your healthcare professional.

The common side effects of Lupron Depot Kit include: weight changes, hot flashes, burning/pain/bruising at the injection area, mood changes, fever, dizziness, stuffy nose, sneezing, inflammation in the ankles or feet, vaginal dryness or discomfort, decreased interest in sex, trouble sleeping (insomnia), joint/muscle pain, acne, breast changes, upset stomach, trouble breathing, chest tightness, headache, fatigue, night sweats, and increased sweating.

LUPRON DEPOT DOSAGE

For the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, the recommended dosage is 7.5 mg injected monthly, 22.5 mg injected every 3 months, 30 mg injected every four months, or 45 mg injected every six months.  

For the treatment of endometriosis, the recommended dosage is 3.75 mg injected monthly up to 6 months, or 11.25 mg injected every three months for two doses.  

For the treatment of uterine leiomyomata or fibroids, the recommended dosage is 3.75 mg injected monthly for up to three months or 11.25 mg injected once.
