What is Pradaxa? 

Pradaxa (generic name: dabigatran etexilate mesylate) is an oral prescription drug used to reduce the risk of systemic embolism and/or stroke among patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used to treat deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism and reduces the risk of recurrence. 

Dosage Forms 

This is available in Pradaxa 75 mg, 110 mg, and 150 mg capsules. 

Pradaxa Mechanism of Action 

This anticoagulant works by facilitating the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin while on the coagulation cascade. It also prevents the development of thrombus. 

How to Take Pradaxa 

Before starting to use this medication, it is necessary to read the information leaflet or medication guide given by a healthcare professional.
