Burinex (Bumetanide) is a prescription medication used to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen the symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. Bumetanide belongs to a class of drugs called loop diuretics. This medication works by causing you to make more urine which helps your body to get rid of extra water and salt.

This medication may affect your blood sugar, if you have diabetes. Check your blood sugar regularly. Bumetanide may reduce the potassium level in your blood. Your doctor may advise you to add potassium-rich foods to your diet. This medication may make you dizzy. Alcohol and marijuana can make you dizzier. You should not drive, use machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Bumetanide and other medications.
