Burinex (Bumetanide) is a prescription medication used to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen the symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. Bumetanide belongs to a class of drugs called loop diuretics. This medication works by causing you to make more urine which helps your body to get rid of extra water and salt.

We currently offer the brand Burinex from Canada manufactured by Knight Therapeutics Inc. It is available in the strength of 1 mg and 5 mg tablets. The generic version is unavailable.
The common side effects of Burinex may include dizziness, headache (as your body adjusts to the medication), low blood pressure, muscle cramps, and nausea.
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• An unusual decrease in the amount of urine;
• Confusion, fatigue;
• Dizziness, drowsiness, fainting;
• Dry mouth or thirst;
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Feeling unsteady, fever, sore throat, and headache;
• Hallucinations;
• Hearing and memory problems;
• Loss of appetite;
• Muscle cramps or pain;
• Purple of red pinpoint spots under your skin;
• Seizures;
• Shallow breathing or breathing that stops;
• Trouble concentrating;
• Unusual bleeding;
• Weakness
You should not take Burinex if you are allergic to Bumetanide, or if you have allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history especially of gout, inability to make urine, liver or kidney problems. This medication may affect your blood sugar, if you have diabetes. Check your blood sugar regularly. Bumetanide may reduce the potassium level in your blood. Your doctor may advise you to add potassium-rich foods to your diet. This medication may make you dizzy. Alcohol and marijuana can make you dizzier. You should not drive, use machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Bumetanide and other medications.
