Neupro is a medication prescribed to treat Parkinson’s disease and moderate-to-severe Restless Leg Syndrome. Neupro patches work by delivering the dopamine agonist rotigotine into the bloodstream directly through the skin to improve the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. This medication may be used alone or in combination with other Parkinson's disease medications. Neupro can cause drowsiness in some patients during normal daytime activities. You may have increased sexual urges, unusual urges to gamble, or other intense urges while taking this medication. Talk to your doctor if you are having problems with drowsiness or unusual urges. Do not stop using Neupro suddenly, as you could experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medication for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to drowsiness caused by Neupro. Tell your doctor if you are currently taking any of these medications. Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of Neupro. Neupro may also cause hallucinations, most commonly among elderly patients. Use this medication as directed. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
