Cosopt eye drops (Generic name: Dorzolamide and Timolol) is a combination medication that contains Dorzolamide Hydrochloride and Timolol Maleate. Dorzolamide ophthalmic is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, which decreases pressure inside the eye. Timolol ophthalmic is a beta-blocker that also reduces pressure inside the eye. Together, Dorzolamide Timolol eye drops is used to treat certain types of glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Follow the directions on your Cosopt prescription label carefully, and use Cosopt eye drop exactly as it was prescribed.
Cosopt Side Effects:
The most common Cosopt eye drops side effects include blurred vision, double vision, stinging eyes, dry eyes, dizziness, headache, nausea, upset stomach, or sore throat. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as any swelling, redness, crusting of the eyes or eyelids, sensitive to light, rapid weight gain, shortness of breath, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., runny nose, fever, sore throat, and blistering), please inform your doctor immediately.
Cosopt Precautions:
Do NOT use Cosopt drops if you are allergic to Dorzolamide, Timolol, or any of the ingredients in Cosopt medication. Do NOT use Cosopt ophthalmic if you have had any medical conditions such as bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart problems, liver or kidney function impairment.
