Mydriacyl is a prescription medication that is primarily used by optometrists for eye examinations. Mydriacyl relaxes the muscles in the eyes, allowing pupils to dilate and be easily examined.

Mydriacyl solution should be stored at room temperature in an area that is protected from heat and moisture. Ensure that the bottle is tightly closed when not in use.

This medication may cause blurred vision, or increase your eyes’ sensitivity to light; use caution if you must drive, operate machinery, or complete any other tasks that require clear vision. The effects of Mydriacyl may last up to twenty-four hours.

It’s important to protect your eyes if you go outdoors into the sunlight after using Mydriacyl. While under the effects of Mydriacyl, do not use any other forms of eye medication unless your doctor has instructed you to.

Patient Family Information: This medication is generally administered in the doctor’s office during an eye examination. If you have been instructed to use Mydriacyl at home, follow the directions on your prescription label. If you wear contacts, remove them before applying Mydriacyl solution, as some of the ingredients in Mydriacyl may cause discoloration. Wash hands before applying Mydriacyl solution. Your doctor or optometrist will demonstrate how to apply the Mydriacyl solution. Ensure that you do not allow the tip of the bottle to come into contact with anything, including the surface of your eye. Mydriacyl should not be used if it appears to have changed color or if it has particles in it.

Do not take Mydriacyl if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. If you have untreated glaucoma, do not take this medication. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby; if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant; or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Mydriacyl.

Sever Side Effects : Severe side effects: fast or uneven heart rate, severe allergic reaction, hallucinations, unusual behavior, or stomach bleeding and discomfort.

Less serious side effects: blurred vision, ocular sensitivity to sunlight, stinging, burning, or swelling in the eyelids.
