Madopar Information
Madopar (Levodopa/Benserazide) is used to treat Parkinson’s disease. This medication is a combination of two medicines Levodopa and Benserazide. Levodopa belongs to a class of medications known as central nervous system agents. It works by controlling bradykinetic symptoms caused by acting as a dopamine replacement and helping control movement. Benserazide belongs to a class of medications known as decarboxylase inhibitor. It works by preventing the breakdown of Levodopa in the bloodstream so more Levodopa can enter the brain. Do not take this medication if you are allergic. Talk to your doctor if you have a medical history of hypersensitivity, decompensated endocrine (pheochromocytoma, hyperthyroidism, cushing’s syndrome), renal, hepatic function, cardiac disorders (severe cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac failure), psychiatric diseases with a psychotic component or closed angle glaucoma. Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor for any possible side effects or precautions. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
