Benicar HCT Information:

Benicar HCT (Generic name: Olmesartan Medoxomil Hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. Benicar HCT is a combination of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat hypertension. Olmesartan is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB). Olmesartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Benicar HCT may be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat high blood pressure. Take Benicar HCT tablets as prescribed for you.

Benicar HCT Side Effects:

The most common Benicar HCT side effects are back pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, flu symptoms, headache, nausea, skin rash, stomach pain, sweating, weakness, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as blurred vision, decreased sexual ability, fainting, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain, nervousness, swelling in your hands or feet, urination problem, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., chest pain; difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), please inform your doctor immediately.

Benicar HCT Precautions:

Do NOT take Benicar HCT oral if you are allergic to Olmesartan Hydrochlorothiazide or ACE inhibitors; or any of the ingredients in Benicar HCT medication. Before taking Benicar HCT, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, dehydrated, high blood levels of potassium, kidney or liver disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Benicar HCT drug, especially of: cough-and-cold products, diet aids, diuretics (water pills), lithium, NSAIDs, potassium supplements.
