Nasonex Information

Nasonex (Generic name: Mometasone Furoate Monohydrate) is a prescription nasal allergy medication approved for the treatment of perennial (year-round indoor) and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in patients 2 years of age and older. Nasonex is also used to help prevent most seasonal nasal allergy symptoms before they start in patients 12 years and older, when taken 2 to 4 weeks before the start of allergy season. In addition, for patients 18 years and older, Nasonex can treat nasal polyps and help reduce the nasal congestion/obstruction they can cause. Nasonex Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient Mometasone Furoate Monohydrate, which is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid (anabolic steroid). Corticosteroids have many important functions in the body, including control of inflammatory responses. Inflammation often occurs as a result of an allergic reaction, and people who suffer from nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis), such as hay fever, or dust mite or pet allergies, tend to experience a variety of symptoms due to this inflammation. Taken just once a day, Nasonex can delivery fast relief for allergy symptoms, such as congestion, itching, sneezing, stuffy or runny nose. Use Nasonex spray exactly as it was prescribed for you.
