Vfend Information

Vfend (Voriconazole) is used to treat fungal infections caused by yeast or other types of fungus. These infections are called aspergillosis, scedosporium, oesophageal candidiasis, candidemia, and fusarium. Fungal infections are any disease or condition you get from a fungus. These infections usually affect the skin, hair, nails, or mucus membranes. Fungal infections can also affect other body parts, such as the lungs. You are at a higher risk for fungal infections if your immune system is weak or you travel to an environment with excess fungi. Symptoms of fungal infections can range from mild to very serious. The exact symptoms depend on the type of fungus that caused the infection. Common symptoms of fungal infections include fatigue, asthma-like symptoms, headache, chest pain, weight loss, and itchy or scaly skin. Your doctor will diagnose a fungal infection by taking a sample of bodily fluids, nail clippings, hair, or skin scraping to the lab to determine the type of fungus causing the infection. Antifungals like Vfend work by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infections. Voriconazole is only used for fungi infection.
