Product Details

Flagyl (Metronidazole) is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach, liver, skin, joints, brain and respiratory tract. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that is used for the treatment of a wide variety of infections. This medication works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria and parasites. Flagyl will only treat certain bacterial and parasitic infections. This medication will not work for viral infections such as common cold and flu.

The common side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, metallic taste in your mouth, nausea and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Eye pain;
• Easy bruising or bleeding;
• Numbness or tingling of arms or legs;
• Painful urination;
• Seizures;
• Severe headaches;
• Stiff or painful neck;
• Sudden vision changes;
• Trouble speaking;
• Unsteadiness

You should not take Flagyl if you are allergic to Metronidazole or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. You should never use an antibiotic when it is not needed because it can cause it to not work for future infections. Avoid alcohol or food and beverages that contain propylene glycol for at least 3 days after the last dose of Flagyl. You should not start taking Flagyl if you recently consume alcoholic beverages, or if you have taken Antabuse (disulfiram) within the past 14 days. This medication may make you dizzy. Alcohol and marijuana can make you dizzy. You should not drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert. You should not have any immunizations or vaccinations while you are using Metronidazole as it may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well.Tell your doctor if you are pregnant as this medication may harm an unborn baby. You should not breastfeed within 24 hours after the last dose of Flagyl. Not all indications of Flagyl are approved to be used in children and teenagers. There may be an interaction between Metronidazole and other medications such as lithium, disulfiram, products containing propylene glycol, and lopinavir/ritonavir solution.
