Product Details

Mirapex ER (Pramiprexole) is an extended-release medication approved to treat Parkinson’s disease. It works by mimicking the same effects as dopamine. It is believed that low dopamine levels can lead to Parkinson’s symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and problems with muscle control.

Side Effects and Precautions

Stop using the medication and get medical care if you have an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Common side effects of Mirapex ER may include muscle spasm or muscle weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, memory problems, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, increased urination, unusual dreams, and insomnia. The serious side effects may include:

• Lightheadedness;
• Hallucinations;
• Extreme drowsiness and falling asleep, even after feeling alert;
• Tremors or twitching, uncontrolled muscle movements;
• Vision problems;
• Posture changes you can’t control;
• Intense urges such as increased sexual urges or urges to gambling

Warnings and Interactions

It can be taken with or without food but take with food if it upsets your stomach. Do not crush, chew, or break your tablet. Swallow it whole. Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• Low blood pressure
• Dizziness after getting up too fast
• Daytime drowsiness
• Kidney disease
• Problems controlling muscle movements

There may be an interaction between Mirapex ER and other medications, including cimetidine, metoclopramide, or any medicines used to treat mental illness such as droperidol, fluphenazine, haloperidol, and prochlorperazine. 3. I have been having trouble staying awake while on Mirapex ER. Is this normal?
Answer: Some people taking this medication have been known to fall asleep, even after being alert. This could mean whilst driving, eating, working, and even talking. Tell your doctor right away if you experience any of these symptoms. Mild drowsiness, on the other hand, should not be a concern.
