Evista (Raloxifene) Medication Information

Uses

Evista is an estrogen agonist/antagonist used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in women, and reduce the risk of breast cancer in women.

Dosage

The tablets are available in 60 mg strength. 

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Evista include:

  • Hot flash
  • Leg cramp
  • Flu syndrome
  • Peripheral edema
  • Arthralgia
  • Sweating

Precautions

There is an increased risk of thromboembolism while taking Evista. This includes an increased risk of stroke. 

Raloxifene should not be used in women with a history of heart disease. 

Evista can cause an increase in triglyceride levels, so these should be monitored. 

Interactions

Common drug interactions with Evista include:

  • Cholestyramine
  • Warfarin 
  • Diazepam 
  • Lidocaine

Storage

Store at room temperature (68-77 ºF).
