Zomig Information:
Zomig (Zolmitriptan) is used to treat migraine headaches. It helps to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms (including nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound). Prompt treatment helps you return to your normal routine and may decrease your need for other pain medications. Zomig will only treat a headache that has already begun. It will not prevent headaches or reduce the number of headaches. Zomig works by narrowing blood vessels surrounding the brain, as well as reducing substances in the body that can trigger headache pain and other migraine symptoms.
Zomig Precautions:
It also works through its affects on certain nerves in the brain. You should not use Zomig if you have coronary heart disease, angina, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, high blood pressure, or a blood vessel disorder. As well, tell your doctor if you have ever had epilepsy, liver disease, or kidney disease. If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your doctor to discuss any possible risks. Tell your doctor about any medications you are currently taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions. Zomig may impair your thinking or reactions. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you. If you experience any serious side effects, signs of a heart attack, or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
