Desyrel (Trazodone) is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of depression. Trazaodone is an antidepressant that belongs to the class of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It may improve your mood, appetite and energy level. It may also decrease anxiety and depression. Trazodone works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural chemical (serotonin) in the brain which helps elevate your mood.

Do not do any activity that requires you to be alert unless you are sure you can perform these activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication passes into breast milk. The medication that may interact with Trazodone is Digoxin. Trazodone may increase your risk of bleeding when used with citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, venlafaxine, duloxetine and St. John's wort. Taking these medications together with Trazodone may increase your risk of serotonin syndrome.
