Toprol is a drug which is used in treating patients who are suffering from high blood pressure. It is also used to treat angina, which is pain in the chest as well as to prevent heart attacks. Toprol contains the active ingredient metoprolol, which belongs to the group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta blockers work by preventing certain chemicals from being produced in the body, which are responsible for causing problems with the heart and blood pressure. When patients cease treatment of Toprol, the dosage must be reduced slowly to prevent severe side effects such as exacerbations of angina and other related symptoms.

• Anxiety, nervousness;
• Decreased sex drive, impotence;
• Dry mouth, constipation, heartburn, vomiting, diarrhea;
