Eldepryl (Selegiline) is a prescription medication used to treat movement disorders caused by Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease can cause tremors, muscle stiffness, sudden twitching between normal movement and stiffness, and loss of normal movement. Eldepryl may improve your range of motion and ability to walk, dress, and exercise. The active ingredient in Eldepryl is Selegiline. Selegiline belongs to a class of drugs called MAO inhibitors. It works by slowing down the breakdown of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin in the brain. Selegiline is often used in combination with other medicines like levodopa to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
